RICO is made in the shape of a handle. Inside Rico, its electronic sensors will measure the torque you are delivering and display it instantly on your mobile screen. The sensors measure the force being applied and its lever. Sensors data are collected by an electronic processor and sent to your mobile phone by a Bluetooth module. On your mobile screen, a free application will display the torque value while it’s being applied. The unit is powered by a lithium battery, rechargeable with a phone charger.
Basic principles
When fastening a bolt it is advisable to measure the torque being applied. Application of the correct torque (referred to as “to specification”) shall prevent a fastener to become loose or to break. What is Torque? In Physics Torque is defined as the product of Force multiplied by its Arm, which is the length of the lever. Measuring units for a Force are Kg, lbs, Newton(N). Measuring units for a lever (Arm) are centimeters (cm), inches (in), feet (ft), metres (m), etc. And so, the measuring units for Torque are N*m, Kg*m, lb*ft, lb*in, etc. In practical life, when fastening a bolt, you exert a Force with your hand and the Arm is the distance between your hand and the bolt being fastened. Most manufacturers list the required torque for bolts and screws in their products. Note that for some fasteners a previous lubrication is required. If lubrication is not specifically recommended, make sure the bolt’s threads are absolutely “dry” and clean to avoid overtorque and consequent damages.

When firmly coupled to a fastening tool, Rico will be between the tool and your hand; all the force you will exert on the tool will be measured by the electronic sensors; the resulting torque will be computed and instantly displayed on your mobile screen.
In detail: the sensors measure the force being applied and its lever. Sensors data are collected by an electronic processor and sent to your mobile phone by a Bluetooth module.
You will need to download our free application to enable the communication between your mobile and Rico.
TECHNICAL DETAILS
Force sensors capacity:
40 kg each.
Note: overall capacity is 80 Kg. When using a small tool a single force sensor can be used (observe the 40 kg limit).
Detailed information is available in the user guide.
Accuracy:
Force sensors: 0.1% F.S.
IR Range finder: 1 cm in the 0-100 cm range
For levers longer than 100 cm, the actual length can be manually entered in the App. The same is applicable to short levers when maximum accuracy is required.
Torque range is unlimited because, besides the sensors’ capacity, any lever of whatever
length can be used and its value entered in the application.
Note: given a torque value, the application allows you to select the preferred values of force and lever.
Example: required torque 20N*m; you can apply a 40kg force with a 0.5m lever, or 20kg with a 1 m lever.
